I have “The Patriot” in my library and this video does not do justice to it. The most moving part (at least for me) is a scene where a very little girl who has never talked before all of sudden begins to do so as she watches “Daddy” walk away. It never fails to bring me to tears and I’ve watched the movie a dozen times.

If you haven’t seen it — go and get it.

And remember our distant past as you watch.

Canada did not “magically appear” in 1867 — it began long before and our heroes (both American and Canadian) should never be forgotten. I truly mean that simply because both countries started somewhere at sometime and I note that Americans are far better at remembering this kind of stuff than Canadians.

We in Canada can learn something if we pay attention and we can take great pride in what has been achieved over the centuries.

But we can always do better and “better’ does not include a failed socialist agenda (as we are now witnessing). The US and Canada are far more than the sum of their current parts and in time Trudeau’s dream will pass.

    As will Jimmy Carter’s.

I missed this move, too. Will get it. Just saw Lions for Lambs contrasting the hawk/anti-war views as it’s all about the Iraq/Afghanistan mission.

Jack, have a look at this. There are a series of others if you look at the sidebar showing capability of our gunners from the air. Link below:

The Patriot, like Braveheart stars Mel Gibson; Mel puts poetry and passion in his roles; viewers believe his character and CARE about the outcome. There is a ‘movie- in - waiting’ here in Canada, for the maverick Mr. Gibson. That movie is the Incredible Life and Deeds of Joseph Whiteside Boyle - self made millionaire from the Klondike who went on to found the ACE of spies and save Romania from starvation during WWI. Joe Boyle’s life was action packed and exciting and he was always up against some bureaucratic wonder (bigshot) getting in his way. Joe just rolled right over them and made them look stupid and moronic - he did not ever win a “Mr Congeniality” contest in Ottawa or London! Joe was decorated for his heroic deeds in WWI by five foreign nations - but not Canada, his homeland. In fact, most people, outside some old timers in the Klondike , do not even know his name.

It is a wonderful untold story about a Canadian hero and I am hoping that the “Arts” community might discover a blockbuster (when they need the money, they might consider producing films that people want to watch!) sometime in the near future. I have been banging on the film boards door for 4 years now and doing all the research for them - so far not a slug has budged, ‘they’ just don’t like my material!

Thanks for posting this Jack to remind us all who the American people really are - they were angry then and they are angry now -feathers are going to fly!

You’re right about Joe, Jema. Sam Steele is another.

    How about Beaverbrook?

There are many who are part of our history and people forget.

That’s because our “artists” (I use that word with some trepidation) are illiterate concerning our past and only live in the here and now, unlike the Americans.

Maybe once they begin to starve they’ll learn.

Maybe once they begin to starve they’ll learn. This thought just might be the ticket, Jack. Key word ’starve’; ‘necessity is the mother of invention (and inspiration, IMO)’.

BTW, Lord Beaverbrook and Joe Boyle were friends and I am certain that Sam Steel and Joe knew each other as they both lived in the Klondike at the same time.

The years just prior to WWI were wonderful years to live in Canada; I think that we could say, without dispute, that those years were the Golden Age in Canadian History.

My thoughts…watching this video again sometime later.

If Canadian’s and Americans don’t value their freedom then give it away.

But if you do…then fight for it.

It’s as simple as casting a vote.
