Ms. Congeniality *******
Posted on 30 August 2008 by Jack
Hey, is anybody out there still talking about that big Barack Obama speech Thursday night? Thought not! John McCain’s daring choice of running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has already paid off, starving the Democratic Party of the attention and praise it had hoped to enjoy for a few days in the wake of Mr. Obama’s oration on “The Promise of America.” It also, in retrospect, casts a rather pathetic light on Hillary Clinton’s endless braying about how she may not have won the Democratic nomination, but at least she “cracked” the “glass ceiling” that was keeping women off of national presidential tickets.
Ms. Palin shares one notable quality in common with Mr. Barack Obama: In recent years, people could not resist talking about her as a candidate for national office, even if they were convinced she could never be chosen. There are fears her lack of foreign-policy experience will be seized upon by Democrats, but Americans have always elected a lot more state governors to the presidency than they do senators. Republicans will not be slow to point out that their 44-year-old vice-presidential candidate has more experience in executive office than the man at the top of the Democratic ticket, and has actually lived and worked in the private sector with the rest of us, to boot.
And while we’re on the subject, George Bush’s cabinet has been as ostensibly well-credentialed in geopolitics and diplomacy as any that has ever existed, and Democrats don’t seem too impressed with their results. Every mention they make of inexperience will rebound not only on their candidate, but on their arguments against the last eight years under a Republican executive full of undeniably experienced individuals such as Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice.

At least she is better looking than Hillory or Pelosi.
I loved the stunned look on cnn anchors faces and anyone that didn’t see and hear the hate yesterday over this missed a great show. With the dissing of small town america and rural lifestyles those living in these places should be very concerned that the big O will ignore them for four years.
If Hillory voters wont vote for her, and instead stay home, it will still be bad news for O.

Bingo! If you listen carefully, those gentle sounds you are hearing are:
The quiet sound of setting concrete representing the Republican base.
The hissing sound of leaking air coming from the Obamaballoon!
My guess; America will go for the solid foundation over the soaring rhetoric.

My first thought after reading this article was that Palin should challenge Obama to a little one on one basketball since he has been ducking McCain’s requests for town hall meetings.
Both big tent political parties in the US seem to have been slowly coming apart at the seams as of late, but the Democrats have the bigger tent making it more vulnerable from within. If our lefties in Canada rolled all their parties together into one New Green Liberal Democratic Party, similar in makeup to the current US Democratic Party, then they would easily outnumber those of us supporting the Harper Conservatives, but how effective would they be once in power, and how long would it last before many in the party became disillusioned? Especially if the far left began taking the party over and Jack Layton or perhaps even Olivia Chow found themselves in charge?
The moderate liberal end of the spectrum within the US Democratic Party didn’t mind letting the more vocal far left moonbats sound off and take over when they believed George Bush was the only target and it would eventually win them the upcoming election, but what should have been a walkthrough for the Democrats has turned into a race because America has gotten a taste of far left leadership from the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and has been less than impressed to say the least.
From here on in it should be all about which leader can get more of their supporters out to the polls and America has a choice to make between another far left leader in Obama, and a much more middle of the road leader in McCain. Far left Obama chose yet another far left running mate in Biden, which should further alienate more moderate liberals and drive Democrats farther apart from one another, while middle of the road McCain chose Palin to energize his right and bring his party together.

MSM in Canada and USA is just nuts…………..
But the VP is a bad choice because she is inexperienced? This isn’t even funny any more. The media bias is sickening. They swoon over Obama because he’s fresh and new yet tut tut over Palin because she’s fresh and new? Have you no shame?

Doctor’s offices and walkin clinics across North America are reporting an unmanagable surge of liberal patients complaining of sudden and unexplained bed wetting.

****EARTH TO MSM IN CANADA AND USA****
“Experienced” politicians got us into the mess
we’re in. I say we need all the in-experience
and new, fresh faces and ideas we can get, because
honestly those entitled experienced dudes pretty
much sucked.
Canada needs more Sarah’s and Obama’s….period!!

The same can be said about municipal councils in many locations as well. Take Winnipeg for example. The very best thing that could happen to this city (and I suspect numerous others) would be to purge city council of so many old dinosaur councillors. Too many have been content to sit and suck on the public teat for over 20 yrs spending inordinate amounts of time feathering their own retirement nest eggs while neglecting their civic duties. They’ve still got many of the same old worn out failed ideas they had when they started because frankly it is too tiring and time consuming to try to think up new tactics or new ideas. Citizens need to get sick and tired of politicians using ‘because that’s always the way we always do it’ as an excuse. We need to get some new blood into those chairs with fresh ideas. Canada currently has one in PMSH so why can’t lesser levels of government enjoy the same. This city has been decaying and dying for years and things are not getting any better. Infrastructure collapsing, unsafe to walk at night in many areas of the city, a failed public transit system (because a decent one is deemed too expensive), widespread loss of public faith and confidence in the police department, the list goes on and on. We need politicians at all levels of government with energy and a burning desire to make things better for something or somebody other than themselves. We need politicians that instead of asking ‘why’ start asking ‘why not’?

This appointment as McCain’s running mate for VP may be of some importance to Canada as her state borders our country unlike O’Bama who probably couldnt find Canada on a map for trying.

Great comments over at SDA.
I am waiting for some republican woman, being on one of the talk shows, to be questioned with, she is pro life, and the comeback is-aren’t you glad your mother was pro-life.
Or, as someone said, If she is picked to get the women’s vote, was Biden chosen to get the male vote.
They have to turn every question back on them.

The feminists cannot stand the fact that Mrs. Palin chose to carry her DS son to term rather than abort him. She is a strong, brave and courageous woman for that fact and they hate her for it. What do they see when they look in the mirror??? Selfishness?? Maybe this makes them a little uncomfortable. Upwards of 80% of women who find this out go through with termination. Bravo, Mrs. Palin.

Where would all those feminists be if their mothers had been pro abortion. Do they ever think of that, do they hate their mothers for giving them birth. Or is abortion only for other people. Having a son/daughter with a lifelong handicap is not the horrible fate these women think it is. These kids have more love and bring a lot of happiness to their families. I know, my grandson is deaf and has MD. I consider him a great asset to my family and myself.

MaryT, I also have a son with DS and yes, he is a gift from God, and has changed my life for the better.

As yes, Sexism!!! It’s rearing it’s ugly head, and from the strangest sources.
McCain didn’t appoint a woman, he appointed Sarah Palin, who happens to be a woman. This is not about sitting to pee, this is about one heck of a person, not about her gender, but about what that person is capable of.
I’ve been wondering for months whether she’d get the nod and am happy, happy, joy, joy, that she did. Alaska is sad and as the Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard is leaving, they’re all sad too. I think she’s the real deal. Exceptional!!
For all the women that she intimidates, they’ll be a small number compared to those she inspires and strengthens. At last there’s a “Real Woman” for all the “Real Women” out there to latch onto and support as their own.
And thats a good thing.
Happy Brew
