Ah, the weather. It’s cold as hell out there. How cold is it? It’s so cold the CBC had to rush to assure all of us that global warming is still a big, big problem. With record snow falls, record cold snaps, the return of sea ice to the north, snow in the Middle East and a deep freeze in China, any sensible person might begin to wonder and even have doubts about global-warming theory and climate change. A little skepticism might begin to creep into the public sphere and threaten to undermine public belief in global warming.
Fear not, says the CBC. We have nothing to worry about: climate calamity still looms. The good news is that the polar caps are still going to melt, hurricane risks are still mounting, drought conditions are more likely, forest fires are set to rage, and it’s going to get hot, hot, hot.

Great article. I have a few friends who whole heartedly believe in global warming and they drive me nuts. To them, everything is a sign of global warming, even when it’s freezing outside and there are record snow falls/cold temps across the globe. I saw a report earlier this week on the sun is cooling recently and how that is affecting temps here on earth but it was dismissed/ignored by many. I am not surprised the CBC trots out ‘experts’ to tell us not to believe our lying eyes. It is what they do best.

Good column! My family have lived in Manitoba since 1860 and diaries have been kept of temperature and weather and crop quality. The weather here has not changed, it is still very cold in the winter and sometimes hot in the summer. We haven’t had a real hot summer for 20 years now. I say bring on the global warming, we are due!
I am sick of the ” we know better than you message from the CBC”
I encourage all families that have records like mine to show these diaries to your children. I fear the 20 year olds are getting sucked in by David Suzuki and his followers.

on this topic.It’s a lot of reading but the comments regarding the topic are damning and the verbage re Gore is not flattering to say the least. I don’t know how long the article will be available on line.
